Mister Lonely- a film about a Michael Jackson Impersonator.

I was browsing and I found this. It stars Diego Luna, an actor I like and I thought I should post it here. It's supposed to come out this year. I found the plot intriguing:

The story, according to the Korines, is of "a young American man lost in Paris. He scratches out a living as a Michael Jackson look-alike, dancing on the streets, public parks, tourist spots and trade shows. Different from everyone else, he feels as if he's floating between two worlds. During a car show Michael Jackson meets Marilyn Monroe. Haunted by her angelic beauty he follows her to a commune in the Highlands, joining her husband Charlie Chaplin and her daughter Shirley Temple. A place where everyone is famous and no-one gets old. Here, The Pope, The Queen of England, Madonna, James Dean and other impersonators build a stage in the hope that the world will visit and watch them perform. Nuns fall out of airplanes and children ride ponies. Everything is beautiful. Until the world shifts, and reality intrudes on their utopian dream."[1]

The Screen International interview describes specifically "scenes being shot in an old people's home in the Ville de Bonnueil, an hour outside Paris, and the next day in the Luxembourg Gardens and Montparnasse," that "show typical Korine improvisational touches." It goes on to say: "In the retirement villa, where 'Michael' first meets 'Marilyn', Luna is dressed as a Dangerous-era Jackson, delivering some trademark whoops around some seriously aged Parisian senior citizens, singing, "You're never gonna die, I want you to live forever," as the residents fall asleep in their chairs. Morton proceeds to comfort a nonagenarian non-actor who appears to be hitting himself with a plastic hammer." [2]

If my memory serves,the 'Lego Thriller' was filmed by him and his friends.

I was at Blockbuster last night looking for a movie to rent. Suddenly on the shelves for the new releases I saw this movie called Mister Lonely.
It had this picture on the front of the DVD....

I didnt rent it yet cause I wanted to go online and watch the preview first. it actually looks really good!

I've heard about this movie before, but I thought you had to go to a special screening or something to watch it since it hasn't seemed to taken off yet.

The idea of impersonators living all together creating a fantasy world... it's strange, but intriguing. :crazylol:

I know! At first i didnt rent it cause I figured it was just more stuff making MJ look like a freak. But now that I know what all its about and have seen the trailor I am excited to see it. What a weird and cool idea for a movie :lol:

Anyone who watches the film knows that it is about a MJ impersonater not Michael Jackson. Thats the whole point of the movie.

This was on FilmFour pretty late last night but I watched it. I absolutely adored it! It was cheap and arty but it was real and... alive. I really loved it and I felt really touched by it. It's one to watch when you feel lonely and there's no good in the world I think. Something to make you feel like there's always somewhere you'll belong, even if it's devastating. I love it.

I haven't seen any ads for it actually. It'll probably be on again, they're usually repeated about 5 times :lol: I even looked on Amazon for it and they have none but I think there were like 160'000 sales. Was it bit surprised at so many being sold.
