View Full Version : Dangerous (Bad?) was planned to have a holographic cover (or picture in the booklet)?

As I've posted on MJNO a year ago, my teacher has met Michael in person while his company worked on a project with him. He originally said he thought it was around the late 80's or early 90's, but after talking to him recently he remembered it was right before 'his new album' came out and that it was in the early 90's. My best guess is that it was for Dangerous.

He said that his company was working on a hologram of Michael (as stated on his biography that his company worked on Michael, NFL's Super Bowl Silver Anniversary Trophy, plus portraits of Ronald McDonald, Jacques Cousteau and the Pope) for his new album.

It was scrapped though, because they just didn't like it enough for it to be a multi-million dollar deal. They were testing the waters first.

He said the pictures were never released, either. :( I forgot to ask what Michael was wearing, in case the pictures were leaked at some point...

It's nothing big, but just thought I'd let you guys now.

Ronald McDonald? Thank god that didn't go ahead.

Thanks for posting anyway

I didn't mean that Ronald McDonald was going to be on the booklet/cover. His company has merely worked on pictures of him.

Or are you saying someone's (that has worked on Ronald McDonald) work isn't good enough for Michael?

That is total rubbish. MJ came up with ideas for the Dangerous cover and talked to Nancy Donald about it indepth then had Mark Ryden come in. Ryden basically went with what MJ and Nancy had in mind, but also added his own stuff, most famously NUMBERS. Ryden LOVES numbers and is obsessed with them. He's also painted strange looking creatures - you can see it on the pop-up Dangerous album cover.

Michael will ask for a certain artist to work on an art cover once he's seen a painting of theirs as in the case of Will Wilson.

Holographic Dangerous cover?? Naw! Pictures would've leaked by now actually - just look at the original cover and booklet for the 2001 Thriller S.E. which remains unreleased to this day.

I never said someone planned Dangerous for him... I said they were testing the waters with the company my teacher worked for back then and that AT ONE POINT there was a possibility of having a holographic cover and they took some pictures, but the deal never fell through. Chill.

Test pics usually DO come out as well, dude. The BAD test cover pic came out yonks ago and Thriller did have alternate covers which we've seen in the 2001 S.E., but Dangerous and HIStory never had test pics - they already had a concept from the start and went with that.

I don't know what to tell you. I'm not lying and I know my teacher pretty well. He's not the lying type.

Also, something I gotta mention - I said it was either something INSIDE the booklet or POSSIBLY the cover picture. They were going to use the photo for something related to Dangerous or MAYBE Bad.
