Why Does Mike Look Tall As A Teen And Short/Average As An Adult?

Im talking about Thriller Era as well as Bad but leaning tords Thriller. Back with The Jackson 5/Jacksons he looked super tall. And Im not counting the fro. Tall and skinny with the Jackson 5 and when Off The Wall came out he looked like he had muscle the you go to Thriller and he's this puny young thang.

I think it's just his build ... I always think he looks much taller during Thriller than in the Bad era, and I guess it's a combination of if he beefs up a bit, what he wears etc. He looks shorter during the Dangerous tour than the HIStory tour cos he had shorter trews on and his thong ( :) ) cuts his body in hlf, whereas the HIStory outfit (can't THINK what it looked like ... I think there may have been a hint of gold in it! ;) ) was floorlength and one solid colour, making him look taller!

That's my theory! Failing that, I think Bexy's is the next most likely ;)

I think his clothes give the illusion of him being taller than what he really is.

for example in Dirty Diana live his legs look soooooooo long!(same with the chase just before Speed Demon on Moonwalker) :ohmy: bit the cut of the trousers and the buckles up and down the leg (ooooh up and down his leg!:crazylol:) give the illusion of this.

the only thing i noticed was his hands....
they looked smaller and his fingers looking skinner during his Thriller and Bad years than they do during his later HIStory-to now years. and its not like his hands got fat, they simply look more manly-er, bigger. but yet hes still skinner than a rail still. i dont know why im looking at his hands like this. maaybe its in my head:brow:

In general since 1976 Michael's look more a less the same height which is 5'9. Sometimes Michael does look really tall but in my view is that's really been since the 1990's and 2000's. One of the reasons being Michael swapped his trademark loafer shoes for high healed cuban boots for most of his non performance public appearances.
Plus I think the cut of Michael's clothes can make him look taller or smaller, it Michael wears trousers that go above his ankles like during the Thriller era, that Michael's Michael about 5'4, if Michael wears long trousers with his cuban boots he looks around 6ft.

I've heard a few fans say Michael is quite small, but he's not 5'4. I've never met Michael, but I've stood very close to him in shops like Hamley's etc, and I'm 5'8 and he appeared to be roughly the same height as me (and the same bulid :yes:).

I think that's because his skin became a lighter shade, and light color gives the illusion of a bigger size. When he was brown-skinned, his hands looked so much smaller. :yes:

Michael's clothes, during the Bad era were very tight fitting compared to the lose suit Michael wore during the Off The Wall era. Also Michael was on tour for the majority on the 2 half year Bad era, and most artists lose weight when touring no matter how slim you are.

In general don't see much different in Michael's build during the Off The Wall and Bad era. The era that Michael's build appeared far slimmer than any other era is the Thriller era.

I think the difference is the people that he was around. He used to always be pictured with his brothers...who were all either his same height or shorter.

I don't know how they average out heights. There are a lot of people in the 6 foot plus range, but the average height for a male in America is apparently 5'7-5'8.

I think people are just below that height and above that height.

Oh, and just throwing it out there: celebrities like to exaggerate their height. Extensively.

Im not just talking bull here but tha hair have alot to do with how tall you can look like.... seriously, its a big deal, if you're 5'1 with really huge hair (as Amy Winehouse) you can look up to 5'2-5'3) and think about it Michael had afro back then and yes it does pay a huge deal with why he looked so tall.... remember his afro was HUGE!
