well, since you don't know me, you probably don't know that i've been in direct contact with Michael's staff since 1998. Bob Jones first, then Evvy Tavasci, Mike Kobayashi, Stuart Backerman, Karen Faye (we still talk to each other through skype), Taunya Zilkie and now Raymone Bain. Bob made me meet Michael in Monte-Carlo and took me on a tour at the MJJ productions studios when they were situated in sunset blvd where I could touch with my own hand the Grammies Michael won with Thriller. Evvy gave me the tickets for the first front row at the Madison Square Garden sept. 7th 2001 concert, Taunya had Michael recording an audio message for the party I organized with Sony Music for the Italian launch of The Ultimate Collection... that's just something about me.

Michael Jackson at the Grammy Awards: Gotta glove it!

Tuesday, February 5th 2008, 4:00 AM

Michael Jackson will appear on the 50th anniversary Grammy Awards show, we hear, but he has vowed not to perform.

The Gloved One appears to have won a stare-down with the Grammy-givers at the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. For weeks, show producer Ken Ehrlich has been mulling the idea of marking the 25th anniversary of Jackson's "Thriller" album with a revue that would feature guest stars from his rereleased blockbuster, which drops two days after the Feb. 10 broadcast.

The medley number would include Will.i.am (on "The Girl Is Mine"), Fergie (on "Beat It"), and possibly Kanye West (on "Billie Jean") and Akon (on "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'").

Ehrlich said he'd do the tribute only if Jackson sang and danced, say insiders. "Michael can't go along with that," says a source. "He needs more time to rehe**** new versions of the songs. And everything requires new choreography."

Now, we hear, Ehrlich has agreed to having Jackson just appear onstage - apparently believing viewers will tune in just to see what Jackson looks like now.

Grammy reps and Jackson spokeswoman Lois Najarian didn't get back to us. But word is Jackson is saving his moves for a show where he'll make some money - a "Thriller" TV special and a series of concerts.

MICHAEL JACKSON - JACKSON WON'T SING AT GRAMMYS

Click for the MICHAEL JACKSON Gallery

Pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON will appear at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (10Feb08) - but he won't be singing at the ceremony. Jackson was rumoured to be attending the Los Angeles bash to promote a 25th anniversary re-release of his seminal album Thriller, and organisers were keen for the star to duet on hits from the LP with a number of contemporary performers, including Will.I.Am, Akon, Kanye West and Fergie. But Jackson - who hasn't performed live in seven years - was reluctant to take on such a big project at short notice. A source tells the New York Post, "Michael can't go along with that. He needs more time to rehe**** new versions of the songs. And everything requires new choreography." The Post reveals that Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich backed down and consented for Jackson to just appear onstage.

Grammy reps and Jackson spokeswoman Lois Najarian didn't get back to us. But word is Jackson is saving his moves for a show where he'll make some money - a "Thriller" TV special and a series of concerts.

Anyway, he could perform or not. But he's bound to do something.
I don't see him going there for nothing... He didn't go to that award thingy in France, and he was supposed to receive an award! Why would he attend the Grammys just for the sake of it?? :hmm:

I just found this article.

Jackson Won't Sing at Grammys

Pop superstar Michael Jackson will appear at the Grammy Awards on Sunday - but he won't be singing at the ceremony. Jackson was rumored to be attending the Los Angeles bash to promote a 25th anniversary re-release of his seminal album Thriller, and organizers were keen for the star to duet on hits from the LP with a number of contemporary performers, including Will.I.Am, Akon, Kanye West and Fergie.

^ I think we are expecting a tribute performance to MJ, not a performance from the man himself.

I haven't been on forums much lately but did no-one see the guy who produced the show for the Grammy's say, if Michael doesn't show up, we'll pull the whole thing? They originally said Michael has to perform, Michael said he hadn't had enough time to rehe**** etc (fair enough), but then the Grammy's said he can't just show up and expect a fanfare...

That's exactly what's happened. Yeah the NRJ Awards (or whatever they were called) were great, but Michael could call the shots and still get a made-up award for showing up.

The Grammy's have the power to just say no...

^ If that's the case, why an advertisement was out promoting the tribute?

I mean MJ already stated that there isn't enough time to rehe****. And if they say without MJ performing, no tribute will be done, then they shouldn't have advertised it in the first place.

Without meaning to start an arguement...but did anyone actually really expect Michael to do anything?

I'd have thought MJ fans have realised by now:

When there is a perfect opportunity for Michael to do something - he wont do it.

Can't wait till he comes to London so I can give him a clip round the ear...

Noooooooo, we know that ! :shy:

the advert for the grammys said there wud be a tribute (includin akon an will.i.am) to mike.

but we got...absoloutly f all:no2:

u not goin into landan town 2day chap?

I wonder what made it fall through. I mean, how can you advertise something and not follow through with it?

MTV showed the thrilllicious commercial all evening. anyway if the grammy commerical said there was going to be a tribute there should have been one, that was rude and immature of them to pull out, i wasted 3 1/2 hours of my life waiting for nothing. commercials are supposed to be final. it was funny how Rhianna said '' ma ma se, ma ma sa,
ma ma coo sa'' during her song and Kanye singing a song he says michael jackson in .. and then throwing WillIiam, Usher, and Quincy all the way at the end to make you think michaels tribute was last. lol i also thought it was funny they didnt have begining credits to who was going be there like they usually do at the beginning of award shows of all the stars there, unless the grammys and the oscars are too good for that.

so true!

Everyone is blaming the grammies...they did not advertise it until last week. But think...who really did the advertising for this ...those that are pumping the Thriller 25th album.

Last night they didn't show the trailer of Michael. I knew something was was wrong when that happened. I sat and watched...heard Rhianna sing the Working day and night...mama say mama sa etc, then Kayne West mentioned Michael in his tribute to his deceased mother, and the commercial from the superbowl came on. Nice.
I saw Quincy come out...I thought cool this is it...nope...then Will.I.am come out and still nothing.

We could have been spared this if his people who are his PR would have answered the question one way or another about Michael and what would he be doing.
I'm bummed, but yet I am not surprised at this. Get use to it. We fans have have to rely on one another for any Jackson news lately true or not.

I'm waiting to hear what the excuses are...this should be good.

I was waitin' only one hour and then I thought Michael is not goin' to appear. But I'm not dissapointed.

I want to do something bad to some people [especially on one forum, but not here]. They like to say stuff like "Michael should perform", "He don't think about his fans", "He don't care about his career" etc. What the hell is wrong with you people? I just don't understand. I know we all want to see him again, but let him do what he want.

Sorry, I don't think about you, I've just seen some posts on another forum. That was not nice at all

they should have went through with it if they advertised it on a commerical. it was a tribute to michael.. so michael did not have to be there. i never expected him there, and to me he does not need to perform. but if it was advertised simply.. the grammys should have atleast done something, instead of recking the fans night. it was immature, sorry.

but....anyone know why they called it off.......whats the true answer does anyone know yet?

Someone told me that the tribute was cancelled at the last minute and Will.I.Am did a last minute performance to fill in that space where the tribute was supposed to show. He did good for a last minute performance tho....:)

^^ I don't expect anything from Michael lol...

I just think it's a shame he doesn't do much anymore... an OLD album release is hardly THAT great. :)

If Michael wanted to retire tomorrow then cool... I just think it's a shame when he used to be all over the place at one point!

Now that this has past, I don't see it as a total let down, because as I see it, no one really gave that "official word that this was going to happen." We just assumed it would because of what we saw, commercials and rumors from those pushing his album.

We can't totally blame Michael or the grammies for that matter either. They wanted it, if something happened, maybe it was just too late to do anything and they went with what they had already.

Remember he has spokesperson or person's who are suppose to let "ALL' fans know what is what? Since this didn't happen...we all grabbed information from "any" resource, because we're missing Mike so much that any or all information is just so welcoming to hear and know. I'm a guilty duck too.

Like someone else said. It's done now. Look it's sad, I'm bummed too, it would have been awesome for Michael, but oh well...that's the way it goes I guess. Let's just move on, the Thriller 25 comes out tomorrow and lets just just accept it and be done with it. You can't lead a horse to water if the horse doesn't wish to drink. You know what I mean?

Gotta say i am preety dissapointed there was nothing, not even a mention. That's kinda bad really to say that it's the Grammy's 50th and MJ was always a big part of the Grammy's past plus it's the 25th anniversary of Thriller....just seems wrong  Oh well.

The Grammy's were SO crap. That was a show that seriously needed Michael or Janet to rescue it. The highlight of the night was Kanyes performance and Alicia Keys, the rest was a dissapointment in my opinion.

I agreed with what you said on the whole. I think most people are very much let down by the fact that the tribute was promoted on Grammys commercial yet it wasn't done. Most of us already knew MJ isn't attending it.

Yeah, and we should just move on. Just a tribute, not as if MJ is gonna attend it. Sure, we are all bummed by it, but there are much more things to look forward from MJ than a tribute to him.

I couldn't post this in a new thread. So bear with me.

Last night on Access Hollywood they advertised a special that one of their reporters, Tony Potts did on the affiliated station, with Michael Jackson. It was good to see him.

It's speaks positive of him, his career as of now, his wealth, how Thriller was made and nearly destroyed due to his Religious convictions, and how Neverland, the once grand place, is now a ghost town and is slowly dilapatating.
