She's extremely underrated. Her dancing is amazing, and her influence is obvious on so many of the popular artists of today. Like Beyonce, Rihanna, Britney... Michael was the first huge black male pop artist, and I believe Janet was the first huge black female pop artist.

She's not underrated.. girl gets OVER coverage. you can't beat that. with how much coverage she gets, she's not over rated and if she is, it's her fault because all she does is moan sex songs and hardly creates from the heart, anymore.. it's all about beats, now. it's sad.

Lately in her music, she's not even singing. she hums a lot of her songs, she under rates herself like I said before but she's not underrated because of Michael.

Janet is ridiculously underrated. Her newer work gets automatically labeled as a failure or a flop, and it's bs. If people took the time to listen to the albums instead of simply judging her on what they think they know about her, they would realize that there are some Janet classics on them.

What she's singing about, her style of singing or the beats are no different from what is "popular", mainstream music.

She can't be who she was in the 80's or 90's. She's a growing, changing artist just like everyone else.

i dont know the general public perception of janet so i wont be completely able to answer the question.

but as far as talent goes,she's not less than michael.i heard many of her songs and they are just great.dancing,she's mesmerising.if u watch her music videos n her tour videos she can really boggle ur mind.the best female performer i've seen on stage and in front of camera.
