I just thought it would be interesting to discuss this. Because I've come to realize that no matter how you try and convince people of how awesome his character is, they still try and bring up the negative. About the things he's done, from creating Neverland to spending time with children? Is it because they don't understand him or are they jealous, ignorant, racist or something else or all of the above?

It's odd. I've been a fan of Michael's for almost two decades now, and I've never known a time when people did not make fun of or criticize Michael. I think a lot of it has to do with jealousy. Some people can't deal with someone who is as gifted as Michael, who has no competition whatsoever and who consistently created great art in *all* fields of entertainment. People's initial reaction to that talent is not to praise it (or if they do, it's only a for a brief period), but rather to attempt to tear it down. It is very sad. But there are those, like us, who appreciate not just his artistry but his humanity.

I don't think there has ever been anyone as horrendously scrutinized by the media as Michael Jackson, and there may be other reasons for that (not to get too controversial, but I think race is a major reason). I'm just glad he doesn't have to put up with it anymore, but believe me, his fans will continue to hear all the lies and mean-spiritedness for perpetuity. Ugh.

I think it's ignorance,jealously, and lack of knowledge about him. A lot of people believe the media and what's written before they look at actual facts. A lot of people thought he was different, and they couldn't understand his ways, not even trying to see who he really is. They don't look at Michael, they look at the distorted image that's been given to them by various sources.If they would only take the time to know Michael,the man, they'd have a different view of him.Whoever doesn't "know"him, and what a beautiful person and amazing talent he was,that's their loss.

Because it's easier to hate and make fun and leave it at that, rather than to take the time to research and understand something.

I agree. But at the same time, I wish we could change their minds. Though it's totally up to them to figure out who the "true" Michael really is.

I think alot of people just misunderstand him or they choose to believe what the media says about him. I really think that if people did research on him they would think about him differently. He truly was a kind, humble, caring and generous person. He loved children with all of his heart and would never ever harm them, he was too innocent for that. Plus he was a great humanitarian who never got recognized because people tend to focus on his personal life which is a shame. Someday the truth will come out about Michael and people will fall in love with him like all the rest of us Michael fans have!!!

Definitely jealousy and ignorance. People just like to poke fun at anything that appears "weird and different" to them. Michael was doing all of these amazing things, and he was surpassing everybody that came before him. And what did the media do? Bash him with every ounce of their energy. Then the public just ate all that crap up, like there was nothing else available as food. And the cycle continued.

I'm sure some people didn't understand why Michael was so loved and admired to be given all that money. Of course we all know he earned every cent he got, but they didn't. They thought it wasn't fair that he was this rich, even though the man gave over $300 million to charities. Of course that's not printed in the papers, so non-fans rarely heard about it. Many were envious of Michael's success, and they vented by making fun of him constantly. It's stupid and childish really.

Michael being different is what makes him this wonderful person. People misjudged him for many many years. Don't judge a book by it's cover...I would think they've heard of that saying. It's very frustrating, because when it came to Michael, justice was thrown out the window.
