The people behind the Academy Awards claim they left Farrah Fawcett out of the Oscars In Memoriam montage this year because she was better known as a TV star -- which begs the question, how the hell did Michael Jackson make the cut?!?!

Bruce Davis -- the executive director of the film academy -- told the Associated Press both Fawcett and Gene Berry were more famous for their "remarkable television work" and would therefore be more appropriately honored at the Emmys.

So by that logic, Michael Jackson would probably be more appropriately honored at the Grammys right? Oh wait, he was!! Kinda contradicts your point, huh Bruce?

For the record -- Davis had no excuse for blowing off Bea Arthur and Captain Lou Albano, who starred in the theatrical masterpiece "Body Slam" back in 1986.

I was very disappointed to not see her being mentioned. People don't need a reason to wonder why Michael was included though. Both deserved to be in that memorial video.

Farrah Fawcett deserved to be in that video more than Michael did IMO.

But, both should have been mentioned.

It not only upset me that Farrah was left out, but to have the audacity to leave out Bea Arthur!? She's one of my favorite actresses of all time. To leave them out just seems... disrespectful. I love that Michael was included, but they didn't need to snub others.

Well..Michael was nominated for an Oscar in 73 and was in one movie but...

Did they think nobody would notice or at least question it or something?

That's what I'm wondering. Her absence would be pretty obvious, especially after a display of -honestly- lesser known people in the industry.

I actually got into a huge fight with a friend of mine over this. I made the mistake of bringing up how screwed up it was Farrah was included and he goes on this HUGE anti-Michael rant saying that he didn't deserve to be in it at all. (He hates him and believes every lie about him, and constantly brings them up trying to convince me he is guitly. I blame him partly for how hard I took Michael's death, he made things 10 times worse)

I believe that Farrah deserved to be in there just as much, if not more than Michael because she was an actress. Yes Michael acted, but he is more well-known for his music/music videos. But to say that he didn't deserve to be in it AT ALL (along with many other horrible things said about him...

) I think is a bit much...
